Subaru Impreza 2025

Our 2025 review.

No changes of note for 2025.

The Impreza, new for 2024, is roughly the same as its predecessor and uses a slightly stronger version of the previous platform and uses the same 2L and 2.5L engines and the same CVT transmission. With the big 2.5L four, performance is strong and flexible, and additional soundproofing has enhanced mechanical refinement. Road and wind noise are also quite subdued. Steering is nicely weighted and geared and is less vague at highway speeds than it was in the previous Impreza. Handling is sound and the ride is very supple. The space-efficient platform of the Impreza delivers very good cabin space for four adults. As is typical for Subaru, cargo space is shallow below the window line.

The Impreza used the same body as the Crosstrek but has a lower ride height and lacks the the plastic cladding of the Crosstrek and is cheaper.

The base Convenience trim, with the EyeSight active safety suite with a forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking and alloy wheels, is nicely equipped. Moving up to the Touring model adds a large, vertically-oriented touch screen, a wireless version of the iOS-Android cellphone interface, more USB ports, two additional speakers, a rear centre armrest, upgraded cloth, fog lights, a hood insulation pad, alloy wheels, blind spot and rear cross traffic monitors. The RS swaps the 152 horsepower 2L engine for a 182 horsepower 2.5L four and adds wireless cellphone charging, a Harman-Kardon branded audio system, a cargo luggage blind, a sunroof, larger wheels and a power driver’s seat. The Sport-tech range topper boasts navigation, reverse auto braking and leather seating.

There is no data on the current model, but it uses the drivetrain of the previous model which was reliable. Predicted reliability is above average. Expensive routine servicing, including premature brake wear.
