Hyundai Tucson 2025

The Tucson undergoes a mid-cycle update for 2025. Changes include reducing the number of Jack-O-Lantern frontal light units from 10 to eight and an updated rear fascia as well. The Luxury trim has been abandoned and there is a new XRT “sport” themed trim. Revisions inside include an all-new dashboard with buttons and knobs for audio and climate functions, new cabin door trims and a restyled steering wheel. The reaction times of the various infotainment screens are said to be reduced. Fancier trims gain a steering column-mounted gear selector. New for 2025 are a head-up windshield display and the ventilator fan continues to operate after the ignition is turned off. Power on the hybrid variant increases from 227 to 231 horsepower and horsepower for the PHEV powertrain is boosted from 261 to 268. All Tucsons are equipped with a full active safety suite for 2025.

The dramatic but polarizing style of the Tucson has been warmly embraced by crossover byyers. Good use of space delivers good cabin and cargo room but the Tucson is not quite as roomy as the jumbo vehicles in this class, the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.

The 2.5L base engine delivers smooth, linear performance. The 2.5L engine works well with the standard eight-speed automatic transmission. The Tucson hybrid is quick and the transitions from electric to gas operation are very smooth. However, fuel economy on the hybrid model is disappointing and no better than a conventional Toyota RAV4. If you drive in town a lot, the plug in hybrid model delivers very good fuel economy.

Forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, including junction turning intervention, blind spot and rear cross traffic warnings, active cruise control and a lane keep assist system, are standard. Odd powertrain and trim restrictions. The Preferred, Preferred Trend and XRT are powered by the normally-aspirated 2.5L four, The N Line and Ultimate trims house the 1.6L hybrid powertrain under the hood with the Ultimate being the sole trim that can be powered by the PHEV powertrain.

Even the base Tucson now costs more than a super-deluxe one did five years ago. With roof rails, alloy wheels, the iOS-Android cellphone interface and a power driver’s seat, the base preferred trim in nicely equipped. The Trend version of the Preferred trim adds a dual-panel sunroof, a power tailgate and more soft-touch cabin trim. The XRT adds a Bose-branded audio system and ambient lighting. The XRT trim includes leather and faux suede seating and heated rear seats. The Ultimate, available with hybrid and PHEV powertrains, features rear auto braking, remote pull in and pull out parking, navigation, a power passenger seat, ventilated front seats and a 360 degree camera system. The PHEV version of the Tucson is priced $5000 more than the hybrid version of the car.

Insufficient data. The vehicle should be reliable until the end of the powertrain warranty. The 2.5L four is unproven. Keeping to the Hyundai Canada maintenance schedule and keeping all receipts is imperative as Hyundai can be very hard nosed when it comes to settling claims. Leasing might be a good way to avoid any potential long-term engine failures.
