Genesis G80 2025

Mid-cycle update for 2025. The cabin loses its distinctive dashboard in favour of a bland, universal computer tablet which are now a feature on even the least expensive vehicles today. A wireless version of the iOS-Android cellphone hookup is standard.

The GV70 can be powered by three different power units. The base gas engine is a 300 horsepower 2.5L turbo, with a a 375 horsepower, 3.5L turbo V6, being available. The GV70 is also offered as a full electric vehicle, motivated by a 77.4 kWh battery pack powering a 429 horsepower dual motor all-wheel drive system.

The turbo V6 delivers astonishing acceleration with impressive serenity except for a symphonic wail when pushed hard. The eight-speed automatic transmission upshifts imperceptibly but is slightly slow to react to downshift requests.

The suspension, with a firmly compliant ride and confident handling, reflects a lot of careful development.

Driven briefly, the full-electric GV70 is quick and quiet. Range is stated to be 380 kilometers with the ability to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 73 minutes using a 50 kW, Level 3 charger.

The front of the GV70 features a massive grille flanked by the twin-bar headlamps that have become a Genesis hallmark. The wide and shallow computer tablet that replaced the previous unique assemblage of gauges and infotainment screen has downgraded the cabin and made it look a lot less distinctive than previously. Other than the screen, the cabin is comprised of attractive components give the cabin a sumptuous look. The cabin is roomy upfront and occupants repose on very comfortable seats. The rear seat is supportive and legroom is more adequate than generous. The cargo area is regularly shaped and luxuriously finished.

The 2.5 T Advanced trim, with heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof, is comprehensively equipped. Moving up to the 2.5T Prestige adds Nappa-processed leather seats, a faux suede headliner and a Lexicon-branded audio system. The 3.5L Sport is priced $13,500 higher than the base Advanced 2.5T but does add Nappa leather and suede seating, Lexicon-branded audio, a head up display system as well as active supension. The 3.5T Sport Plus includes diamond pattern Nappa leather seating and a limited slip differential. Compared with the 2.5T Prestige, the GV Prestige BEV is priced $15,500 higher. As of April 2025, there were no government incentives for the purchase of electric cars.

Reliability should be at least average during the warranty period but the gasoline engines are unproven and Hyundai’s hard-nosed attitude regarding replacing prematurely-failed engine make leasing a good way to enjoy the car and hand it back before any major mechanical calamity happens.
