Genesis G70 2025

The G70 is the entry-level sedan from Genesis Canada. While expensive, the G70 is, given its performance and luxury appointments, is reasonable value.

Two turbo engines, a 2.5L four and a 3.5L V6, are offered. Both engines deliver tremendous power and are excellent performers. The V6 is combines massive power with impressive refinement. Unfortunately, like many luxury brands, Genesis requires premium fuel. The eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to all wheels seamlessly. The sophisticated all-wheel drive system sends 100 percent of power to the rear wheels unless slip is detected, when power is also sent to the front wheels. Handling is very stable with the V6 and even better with the four as there is less weight over the front wheels. Ride is firm but resilient and devoid of shock. Braking is stong and predictable with solid brake feel.

While getting on now, the G70 is still an elegant car, fronted by the gigantic Genesis grille and distinctive dual unit lighting. Inside, even the most basic version of the car is, with leather and convincing alloy accents, is luxurious. The driver faces crisp, clear instrumentation and the climate and infotainment controls are much easier to deal with than most competitors. The front seats are very comfortable and occupants enjoy expansive legroom. The rear seat is large and deeply padded but legroom is tight for a car in this segment. Trunk space encourages careful packing.

The base G70, the Advanced, has an inclusive active safety suite including a forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, junction turn intervention, blind spot, lane departure and rear cross traffic monitors, a lane keep assist system and rear auto braking. Comfort and convenience features include a power-adjustable steering wheel, wireless cellphone charging, a dual-panel sunroof, power front seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, leather seating, ventilated front seats, navigation, alloy cabin trim, the iOS-Android cellphone hookup and front and rear parking sensors. The 2.5L Prestige trim adds Nappa leather, heated rear seats, a Lexicon-branded audio system and a 360 degree camera system. The V6 turbo model, the Advanced, adds the engine, a Lexicon audio system, a driver’s seat cushion extension, heated rear seats and more adjustment directions for the power passenger seat. Compared with the 2.5 Advanced, the 3.3 V6 Sport includes Nappa leather, electronically controlled suspension, alloy pedals and a head up display system

Reliability has been very good so far but the lack of durability exhibited of Hyundai gasoline engines might indicate leasing would be the best way to enjoy the G70.
