Chevrolet Silverado 2025

No changes of note for 2025.

The 5.3L-V8 is smooth, flexible and quiet. The 6.2L-V8 has abundant torque but uses more fuel than the 5.3L. The 10-speed automatic transmission is smooth and reacts well to driver request. Nicely weighted and precise steering. Sierra Denali: Its adaptive suspension delivers very good handling. However, its ride is not as good as that delivered by the air suspension available on the RAM 1500. The ride of the off-road focused Trail Boss reflects its off-road focus. Try it before you buy it. Strong braking with a firm pedal and easy modulation. The most recent update of the Silverado-Sierra addressed complaints about unattractive interior materials. Simple, straightforward controls. The front seats are a bit firm for some users and more seating adjustments would be appreciated. The 60/40 split rear seat is firm and flat. Abundant rear seat legroom (crewcab), but not as much as the RAM 1500 or the Ford F-150.

The regular cab is only offered in Work Truck trim. The biggest seller for non-commercial users is the four-wheel drive crewcab model. The Work Truck, with rubber mats and vinyl seats, is quite basic but does have a forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, a lane departure warning and a lane keeping assist system but no blind spot or rear cross traffic warning. The Custom trim which adds alloy wheels, remote starting, an alarm system, a rear window defroster, a power tailgate lock, deep tint glass, a power driver seat and trailers package, is the least fancy model to get any notice from private buyers. The LT gains a 13.4 inch infotainment screen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate system and touch entry. The RST offers nothing of value. The LTZ is powered by the 5.3 L-V8, L.E.D headlights, power-fold door mirrors, ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable steering wheel, a Bose-branded audio system, wireless cellphone charging, blind spot and rear cross traffic warnings, a power up and down tailgate, front and rear parking sensors and leather front seats. The Trail Boss models represent additional off-road prowess and is accessed simply by ticking a box on the order form. The top High Country trim adds an Auto-Trac transfer case, a spray-in bedliner, heated rear seats, active cruise control and enhanced autonomous emergency braking.

Predicted reliability is slightly below average. The eight-speed automatic transmission can shift roughly. There are some reports of premature air-conditioning failures. Long-term issues appear to arise with valve-gear on the 5.3L and 6.2L V8s due to the variable cylinder management systems used. There have been a spate of recent engine failures on both the 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines. No reliability data on the new 2.7L turbo four or the six-cylinder diesel.
