Mercedes-Benz GLC 2023

The pre-mild-hybrid 2L turbo four was energetic and refined, with drivers not feeling cheated because the car is not powered by a V6. The 2L is hooked up to a slick-shifting nine-speed automatic transmission that optimizes performance and fuel economy. The ride-handling compromise is very well judged. Road and wind noise are higher than some buyers in this segment will find acceptable. The cabin is roomy for a vehicle of its size but some drivers will find the front seat cushions to be too narrow, surprising as there is ample room in the cabin to make them wider. The updated cabin in very slick. Good cargo space.

The updated GLC debuted with a 2L four-cylinder turbo marketed as the GLC C300 4Matic. The 2L turbo still produces 255 horsepower but the integrated starter generator (ISG) adds another 23 horsepower. Total torque is a stout 295 lb.ft. of torque. The 3L-V6 turbo, marketed as the 43 AMG, will return evenually. The sole transmission offered is s nine-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes offers a DUV (diminished utility vehicle) version of the GLC, marketed as the GLC coupe.

No details were available as of early spring 2023.

Not rated, insufficient data. Reliability of the hybrid model is predicted to be well below average. An extended warranty recommended if you plan to keep a GLC beyond the four year/80,000 km warranty. No powertrain warranty beyond the basic four year/80,000 km warranty. The Mercedes prepaid service plan which covers the first three or four scheduled services is strongly recommended. If paying cash or financing, it costs $1699 for three years over 36 months, with four services up to 48 months priced at $2399. If leasing, three services over 36 months adds $35 per month to your lease with three services over 45 months costing $22 per month. Four services over 48 months adds $33 to the monthly lease amount.

What’s new this year?

Despite being in its eighth year in 2023, the GLC is treated to a surprisingly thorough update this year. Front end styling, including fascia, grille and headlamps, is new for 2023. The cabin has been updated with the dashboard from the C-Class sedan that debuted for 2022. The mainstream GLC300 gains the radical 48 volt mild hybrid system that was installed in the new-generation C-Class last year.
