GMC Acadia 2024

The final version of the next-generation Acadia was on display at the Toronto show in February, but its launch date is unknown and, as with most of GMs recent cars, it will likely be delayed.

In an effort to differentiate the Acadia from its stablemates, the Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse, the previous Acadia was smaller and a close match to mainstream crossovers like the Toyota Highlander. The new Acadia has been upsized and it is now as large as the Chevrolet Traverse.

The vehicle on display was locked, preventing cabin access, meaning the car is likely a ways away from its on-sale date.

Exterior styling is neat and contemporary but not in any way memorable. The blocky dashboard is punctuated by a modular-looking digital readout in front of the driver and a massive, vertically-oriented infotainment screen at the centre of the dash. The touch screen is supplanted by a selection of physical buttons controlling various functions.

With the Acadia moving to XXL proportions once again, passenger and cargo space should be ample.

Only one engine, a turbocharged 2.5L four rated at 328 horsepower, will be available, at least initially. Properly equipped, the Acadia can tow up to 2268 kilograms.

GM’s Super Cruise, a limited self-driving feature, will be offered on the new Acadia.

Standard active safety equipment includes a forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitors, junction turn intervention, lane keep assist and active cruise control.

No pricing details are available as of March 2024.

Insufficient data on this generation of this vehicle powered by a new engine. Three year/60,000 kilometer warranty, with five years/100,000 kilometer powertrain warranty. A GM extended warranty recommended if you plan to keep these vehicles past the warranty period.

What’s new this year?

All-new Acadia is twinned with the Chevrolet Traverse. Previously smaller than the Traverse, the Acadia is now the same size. The new-generation versiona of the Buick Enclave and Cadillac XT6, which have been companion vehicles to the Acadia, have not been introduced. The Acadia on sale date is unknown but fits the GM’s recent history of failed new vehicle launches.
