Super capable off-road machines, once the only type of four-wheel drive vehicles available, have now been sidelined in favour of car-based, all-wheel drive crossover vehicles. Only the Wrangler and 4Runner remain but both have transitioned from the near-affordable vehicles to expensive ones.
